Keikutsertaan Indonesia dalam ajang WORLD POPULAR SONG FESTIVAL di BUDOKAN TOKYO memang beberapa kali mencatat sukses. Diawali di tahun 1977 ketika lagu DAMAI TAPI GERSANG ciptaan ADJIE BANDI berhasil menjadi pemenang OUTSTANDING SONG AWARD. Pada penyelenggaraan tahun 1982, Indonesia diwaikili oleh ANTON ISSOEDIBYO yang menyertakan lagu ciptaannya berjudul LADY dan dibawakan oleh HARVEY MALAIHOLLO dan GERONIMO SINGERS. Meskipun tidak berhasil memenangkan katagori lagu terbaik, tapi penampilan mereka yang spektakuler sukses mendapatkan penghargaan bergengsi KAWAKAMI AWARDS, special awards untuk penampilan terbaik, mengalahkan CELINE DION yang saat itu mewakili Perancis. Lagu yang dibawakan Celine sendiri memenangkan penghargaan Outstanding Song Award. Album ini sendiri direkam secara live pada acara malam final, dengan mutu yang terhitung prima.
